Travel
There is a train strike planned for Saturday August 13th. It is likely that there will be few, if any, trains running out of Bristol. We recommend that anyone planning on travelling on the 13th should try to book bus tickets as soon as possible.
To travel from Bristol internationally, most participants will want to fly to Bristol Airport or Heathrow. Bristol has good connections to much of Europe; from the rest of the world Heathrow will often be be more convenient, but it is worth checking flights to Bristol. Birmingham International is also a convenient place to fly to, but it is difficult to travel from Bristol to Birmingham for a morning flight. Cardiff is also nearby and might be convenient.
From Heathrow, the best way to get to Bristol is probably the National Express coach. You can also take the Heathrow Express train to Paddington, and then take a train from Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads. During the last strike day, there were only a few trains from Bristol to London all day, and the Heathrow Express might not have run at all.
From Bristol Airport, the best way to get to Bristol is the Bristol Flyer, or else a taxi from the airport.
From Birmingham International, there is a train to Birmingham New Street, and then from Birmingham New Street to Bristol Temple Meads. (But see the above message: don't expect trains to be running on Saturday. Look to National Express or Megabus, probably, if you want to get from Bristol to Birmingham on Saturday.)
