Interests

  • Running. I've run lots of half marathons and even one full marathon in 2015 (3hrs36).
  • Cycling. Have you ever seen an upright cyclist who isn't happy with life ?
  • Crosswords. Occassionally I finish the Guardian cryptic.
  • Oil painting. A long time ago I was too tight to buy pictures to decorate 1st house, so I decide to paint some.
  • F1 enthusiast. I always wanted to design F1 cars and I think I probably still do.
  • Gardening. I like to try growing veggies in my small garden. The snails, slugs, cats and foxes always come out on top.
  • Cricket. I used to be an enthusiastic cricketer (bowler) but suffer from the yips.
  • Linux. I used to install and fiddle with Linux regularly. Now I only have time to tinker.
  • Politics. Close observer of Westminister politics (no interest in US politics) with no political affiliation.
  • Music: eclectic taste from gregorian chant through to Italo Disco with heavy metal in between.
I have never...

  • Bought a facemask
  • Eaten a Subway
  • Ordered an Uber
  • Put the thermostat above 19C
  • Sung karaoke
  • Had a go on a skateboard
  • Visited the American continent
  • (knowingly) listened to Adele
  • Been admitted to hospital
  • Worn a bow tie
  • Overslept

Things that annoy me

  • Driving. Waste of time.
  • Drivers. They get in the way of cyclists.
  • Travelling. Always takes a long time and I rarely find that the place I visit is as good as the countryside less than two hours cycle from my front door.
  • The media. For presenting opinions as facts.
  • Meaningless statements. E.g.: "I'll be there in 2 seconds".
  • Tupperware. It's taking over our kitchen.
  • Slugs, snails. And pets.
  • Mobile phones. Too complicated and people spend too much time looking at them rather than looking at the world around them and actually thinking.
  • Social media (facebook). Narcissistic. No, I don't want to look at your children.
  • Students. My job would be easier without them.
  • Religious beliefs. Wrong. Spiritualism is OK.
  • Michael Gove.
  • Not being able to speak a foreign language.
